Autism Tree launched the Blue Horizons for Autism Program in 2013 in partnership with JetBlue Airways, The Transportation Security Administration and the San Diego International Airport. This program happens once every two years and allows Autism Tree children and families the opportunity to practice safe travel by going through the airport check in system, security lines and boarding onto an airplane.
Families are also invited to take part in an airport scavenger hunt, virtual reality airport experience, meet and greet with a pilot, and meet a miniature service pony while in the airport. Since 2013, this program has served over 300 families to date.
